Chris Hemsworth - Thor: The Dark World Sees Chris Hemsworth And Tom Hiddleston More In Tune Than Ever

It’s out. It’s here! Thor: The Dark World is finally in cinemas as of last Wednesday (in the UK and Europe) or Friday (in the US), and it is one of, if not the most buzz-worthy release of the season. Good or bad, that’s for moviegoers to decide on their own, but without spoiling anything for you, this might be the film in which we’ve seen Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and Tom Hiddleston’s Loki act more brotherly than ever. Maybe it’s that special bond that forms after doing three whole movies together or maybe it’s something else.

Can you spot the family resemblance?

After all, Hemsworth and Hiddleston have spoken about their instant chemistry in plenty of interviews and their ability to riff off each other has only gotten better with time and further collaboration. But besides improving their working relationship, Hemsworth and Hiddleston have also inadvertently become experts on Norse mythology – more or less.

“We’ve known each other and played brothers for five years now and he feels like a real brother,” Hiddleston told the Daily News. Hiddleston mentioned the running joke that he’s been adopted into the Hemsworth family, almost like a third brother to Chris and Liam. “I’m the runt of the litter or something,” said the 32-year-old Eton-educated Brit.

While there may have been a bit of a rivalry when the pair first got the parts (Hiddleston originally auditioned for Loki, but Hemsworth’s uncanny resemblance to Stan Lee’s original character won him the part), they’ve now become close friends.

“We became very firm and fast friends when we first met,” Hiddleston said. “It had something to do with (the fact) we were both a similar age when we were cast, kicking around the business a while, and we recognized this massive opportunity.”

In fact, Hiddleston’s character was intended to be written out of the franchise after the first Thor film. However, thanks to Hiddleston’s nuanced performance, which quickly made him a fan favorite, he was brought back for the next films. And, of course, his presence helps build up the myth around Thor, who is, after all, supposed to be a god among men.

Check out the trailer below.

“I don’t know it was ever the plan to have Loki in this many films, but purely to do with everything Tom brought to the table,” Hemsworth said about his “brother from another mother.”

In The Dark World, we see more of that on-screen relationship, as Thor and Loki fight, compete and engage in quite a lot of banter, considering the universe is in danger. We also get to see quite a lot of Asgard, which makes for beautiful and unusual scenery, as well as a solid story to hold it all together. In short, get thee to a cinema. Soon.
