It seems to be that Thor 2: The Dark World is one of those films that you either love or hate - but most people seem to be loving it.The sequel to the 2011 comic adventure flick hits UK cinemas today and it seems that it is continuing to impress.

Thor: The Dark World sees the return of Chris Hemsworth in the title role, alongside his onscreen brother Tom Hiddleston as Loki and love interest Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. While pretty much all the reviews on the web are insisting that it does not live up to the standards of the first movie, few people are complaining.

Empire dubbed the movie 'magic-science', their verdict being: "As confident and assured as its lead character, Marvel's great run continues. We give this Thor out of Thive. (Sorry.)," while the Guardian insisted that "Thanks to Hiddleston and Hemsworth's impressive collective charisma, Thor: The Dark World is far from a franchise killer."

Neon Maniacs had a lot to say about the film in their conversational review, but couldn't deny that it was thrilling experience: "When Thor: The Dark World is firing on all cylinders, it's hard to find a more purely enjoyable time at the movies." Even our own reviewer, Rich Cline, insisted that "the sparky characters and wildly cataclysmic approach are hugely entertaining."

As always, there were the hype killers; the Financial Times rated it 2 out of 5 in a very short review summing it up as "Hokum for overgrown kids, accessorised with daft dialogue," and the Telegraph slated its lack of originality: "It feels entirely made by committee - the definition of house style, without a personal stamp in sight."

It seems, however, that the general consensus is that if you were a fan before, you'll be staying that way for a few more years.
