'Third Person': Check Out The Trailer For Paul Haggis' "Russian Doll" Drama

The release of Paul Haggis' unique new drama, Third Person, is looming and fans can finally check out the trailer for the movie that had critics' heads spinning at the Toronto International Film Festival last year. Starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Liam Neeson, Adrien Brody, Maria Bello, Olivia Wilde and Kim Basinger, Third Person incorporates three interwoven love stories in Rome, Paris and New York.

In New York, Kunis plays Julia who has been accused of attempting to kill her son; a charge she denies. Whilst the son stays with his father (Franco) who doesn't want Julia near his child, she tries to win back custody of the boy.

In Rome, Adrien Brody plays Sean, an American businessman who takes a trip to Italy and falls in love with an Italian woman, Monika, played by Moran Atias. Sean agrees to help Monica try to get back her daughter who has supposedly been kidnapped by gangsters but in so doing ends up becoming embroiled in a con.

Third Person James Franco

Having premiered in Toronto last September, the movie left critics scratching their heads and trying to work out what to make of the movie comprised of distinct yet interlocking tales. A star-studded cast and some very glamorous locations helped sweeten the deal but reviewers criticised the "doomy drama" and its "russian dolls design whose big reveals recall Jeremy Kyle rather than Sophocles" (The Guardian).

More: Paul Haggis wants 'Third Person' to irritate people.

Haggis ('Crash') has spoken about how long it took him to write the movie, owing to its complex structure and psychological battlegrounds. "I think I wrote something like 50 drafts and got it wrong 49 times," the Oscar-winning filmmaker recalled, via THR. "I just wanted to restore the challenge to [myself], because if I don't have a really good sense that I can fail and humiliate myself, then I'm not happy,"

Third Person Liam Neeson Olivia Wilde
The Movie's Twists & Turns Has Baffled Some Critics, Many Of Whom Gave The Film Low Ratings At TIFF.

"As with Crash and In the Valley of Elah, there were questions in my head I couldn't answer myself, about the nature of love. It got in my head and I wouldn't let it go," Haggis added. Third Person will be released on the 20th June in the USA and on the 27th June in the UK.
