The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 1: Sick As A Pig

All was calm in the prison community during The Walking Dead season 4, episode 1, which aired on AMC on Sunday night (October 14, 2013) to fill the Breaking Bad sized hole in the networks' schedule.

The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 1Rick Grimes Takes Time Out From His Gardening To Chat With The Walkers

The long struggle between the suvivor's of the Governor's Woodbury and Rick's hastily put together prison community is now over and the survivors are trying to create structure. There's a nice little garden, a decision making council, some farm animals and communal meals.

The new season begins with Rick (ever wondered how Andrew Lincoln got the role?) hacking away at the grounds while choosing to ignore the walkers behind the fence. He pulls out a pistol before throwing it aside.

Elsewhere, more people are forced to volunteer to stab and kill the walkers, wearing butcher like aprons.

Of course, not everything is going to plan and the store raid goes horribly, horribly wrong. The group including Daryl and Glenn fail to realise that an empty store is overrun with walkers on the roof. The whole scene turns into chaos and Zach is bitten in the leg.

Later, Rick takes a trip into the woods and meets a nameless Irish refugee who literally begs to join the prison's ranks. He agrees to let the guy join if she and her husband will answer three questions. "How many walkers have you killed?" "How many people have you killed?" and "Why?"

The horrors aren't quite over as the episode moved into its concluding moments. Rick notices that Violet the farmyard pig is sick - very sick and potentially dead. Another newcomer, Patrick, also begins feeling queasy and stumbles into the shower. The episode concludes with him collapsing as his eyes turn red and yellow.

We guess the key question to be taken from the season premiere is how did Patrick and the pig get sick? Are they connected?
