The Muppets Do Europe In Brand New Teaser For 'Muppets Most Wanted' [Video]
The Muppets are going on a Euro trip in this one.
“The Muppets have always been about artistic integrity, not cheap tricks,” says Kermit in the first trailer for the original Muppets movie. He had a point then and it still stands now; Ty Burell, Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais – some of the most unexpected casting choices for this kind of film – definitely aren’t cheap. The producers even somehow managed to get Tom Hiddleston on the cast list, making this possibly the first Muppets movie to be watched by squealing teenage and 20-something fangirls (we assume).
Check out the teaser below.
The Muppets in the trailer are probably speaking for everyone, while they run and scream “Sequel! Sequel!” and, while the 'Moves Like Jagger' musical number might be a bit dated by the time the movie comes out (March 20, 2014), it’s still all good fun. Not that we could tell you what it’s about exactly – with scenes of Kermit and P Diddy (hey, he’s in this too!) partying on what looks like the Orient Express and Tina Fey possibly playing a dictator, it could be about anything.
According to the description on the video page, the gang go on a tour of Europe’s greatest theatres, when they “find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine - the World's Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit - and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais.”
When you think Muppets, does Ricky Gervais come to mind?
It doesn’t sound like the easiest story to follow. But the Muppets have never been about coherent storytelling, have they? As advertised, this movie promises to be one giant party – bigger, better and quite a bit more ridiculous than2011's Muppets movie.
