'The Hobbit: There And Back Again' receives a grandiose makeover.
The final Hobbit movie has received a new, grander and arguably better title: The Battle of the Five Armies, instead of There and Back Again. Director Peter Jackson shared the news today via his Facebook page, explaining why the decision to change the title was taken. "Our journey to make The Hobbit Trilogy has been in some ways like Bilbo's own, with hidden paths revealing their secrets to us as we've gone along," he said.
Peter Jackson Has Announced That The Third & Final Hobbit Film Will Now Be Called 'The Battle Of The Five Armies.'
""There and Back Again" felt like the right name for the second of a two film telling of the quest to reclaim Erebor, when Bilbo's arrival there, and departure, were both contained within the second film. But with three movies, it suddenly felt misplaced-after all, Bilbo has already arrived "there" in the "Desolation of Smaug"," Jackson explained.
He continued "When we did the premiere trip late last year, I had a quiet conversation with the studio about the idea of revisiting the title. We decided to keep an open mind until a cut of the film was ready to look at. We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate."
The Bombastic New Title Conveys The Climactic Battle At The End Of Tolkien's Story.
The new title hints at the climactic showdown between goblins and dwarves, elves, men, and the majestic giant eagles at the foot of the Lonely Mountain, which is expected to consume a large portion of the third movie. However, Jackson explained that he's not completely done with There and Back Again just yet, indicating that he may use it as a ribbon with which to tie the trilogy together.
"As Professor Tolkien intended, "There and Back Again" encompasses Bilbo's entire adventure, so don't be surprised if you see it used on a future box-set of all three movies," he wrote.
Expect A Huge Battle Scene To Round Off The 'Hobbit' Trilogy In An Explosive Way.
The director moved on to reveal that he was currently editing the movie in Wellington, promising "Expect to see and hear much about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in the coming months." He also promoted the upcoming extended cut of The Desolation of Smaug "with over 25 mins of new scenes, all scored with original music composed by Howard Shore."
Jackson signed out: "It'll be a fun year!" The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will be released on the 17th December.
