Wise-Cracking 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Trailer Ramps Up Battle with Shredder

A new full length trailer for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has rolled out online, showing the heroic reptiles stepping up their battle with the armoured villain Shredder. The movie stars Megan Fox as newsreader April O'Neil and Will Arnett as cameraman Vernon Fenwick.

The new trailer isn't all that different from the original teasers and retains that dark, brooding edge. However, we get a closer look at William Fichtner's Shredder who continues to reign supreme over New York with the help of his evil foot clan. Whoopi Goldberg also makes an appearance, as Channel 6 News.

There's a couple of wisecracking lines in the new clip though things seem to turn vaguely ridiculous when the mutants begin riding hover boards down a snow-capped mountain.

The new movie has garnered some criticism for apparently repackaging turtles Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael and Michelangelo as "lovable aliens".

Speaking at the Nickelodeon Upfront, producer Michael Bay said: "When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable."

Director Jonathan Liebesman is previously best known for Battle: Los Angeles. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hits US cinemas on 8 August, with a UK release on 17 October.
