Selena Gomez's professional relationship with her parents has come to an end.

The 21 year-old singer has fired mother Mandy Teefy and stepfather Brian Teefy as her managers, according to E!News.

But this isn't a rushed decision, a source close to the situation told the website that the three of them have spoken about parting ways for quite some time.

"This has been going on for a while," a source said to E!News. "This didn't just happen yesterday."

At first Gomez's parents were taken back by their daughter's decision, but now "everything is fine now," the source said. "They're all good."

Their separation became official last month.

The 'Come & Get It' singer, who was admitted into rehab in January, allegedly wanted to find a new manager after deciding "it's better to focus on being a family than talking about business all the time," the source said.

"Listen, it makes sense because someone doesn't want their parents managing them for their whole career," the insider added. "It wasn't about her parents doing something wrong or bad feelings, it was more about Selena getting older and being more independent."

According to TMZ, the main reason for Selena parting ways with her parents was due to her feeling like she had outgrown them, and is old enough and famous enough to hire a seasoned manager, who works with other A-list celebrities.
