On the cusp of 30, Scarlett Johansson is more focused than ever.
Scarlett Johansson has long been thought of as one of Hollywood’s reigning sex symbols, but in recent years, she’s been out to prove that she has much more to offer than just her looks (which are, admittedly, still killer). On the cusp of 30, Johansson is in charge of her roles, her style and most of all, her personal life – all of which she discusses at length in her interview for the latest issue of Glamour.
Johansson has become instantly recognisable for the role of Black Widow, but her acting talents extend far beyond spandex-clad superheroes.
In the past year, Johansson has proven over and over again that she has the range – from a dreamgirl operating system in Spike Jonze’s Her, to a conflicted alien seductress in Under the Skin, to arguably the coolest female superhero to grace the big screen, it seems like she can do it all.
Johansson’s main focus at the moment however – or at least her favorite interview topic – is her engagement to Romain Dauriac. Apart from her career, her personal life has also improved with age, Johansson says.
I think I know myself better,” she says for Glamour. “I feel I know now more of what I need in a relationship, what I want in a relationship. And I know I have more tools to communicate, not just with my partner, but with myself. That's not necessarily any reflection of who I was married to or what was happening in my marriage, but really where I was in my life. When I was first married, I was much younger.”

This year is a big one for Johansson – with three movies (Chef, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Lucy) to be released in 2014 and a pregnancy, the starlet isn’t relying too much on planning, especially as far as her upcoming wedding is concerned.
“We're just going with the flow, she says of herself and Dauriac. “I've never been one to do a full-on themed wedding. I don't care about that stuff.”
One thing she does care about however, is the lazy and sometimes ridiculous portrayal of actresses in the media. In one particularly applause-worthy part of her Glamour interview, Johansson says: “Actresses get stupid questions asked of them all the time, like, ''How do you stay sexy?' or 'What's your sexiest quality?' All these ridiculous things you would never ask a man."
Johansson and Dauriac usually split their free time between Paris and New York.
Feel free to take a moment to applaud that statement. We knew there was a reason to like Scarlett Johansson so much. Beyond the obvious ones, that is.
