Russell Brand has apologized for delaying an RBS worker from eating his lunch, promising to buy the man a fresh paella. Bank worker Jo, from Northern Ireland, wrote an open letter to the comedian bemoaning that he'd been forced to eat his lunch in the cold after security locked doors to the building.

"It looks like you're challenging the system and the powers that be want your voice suppressed. Or something. But all it really means, behind the manipulative media bullshit, is that you don't have an appointment," he wrote.

Brand, apparently making a film with Michael Winterbottom about financial inequality, headed down to the RBS bank to protest against alleged corruption and bankers bonuses. However, the comedian appeared to meet his nemesis outside the bank, with Jo pushing past him angrily.

"You want to talk about inequality? My lunch is going cold and I can't get into my office," said Jo.

Undeterred, Brand told him, "I'm not having a go at you mate," adding, "I'm assuming you weren't one of the people who received a bonus of £500 million worth of bonuses last years."

"Do you think it's me who's in charge with closing the doors? No, they closed the doors. Do you remember at school when they said, 'Russell's been naughty so we'll all have to stay behind'? Do you remember that?"

In his Facebook apology, Brand said: "I can't apologise for the RBS lockdown though mate because, I don't have the authority to close great big institutions - even ones found guilty of criminal activity.

"I'd never knowingly keep a workingman from his dinner, it's unacceptable and I do owe you an apology for being lairy," he went on.
