Ronan Farrow wants to "empower" the younger generation of America and ignite a fire in their bellies that will bring about a new age of political enlightenment and interest in what's going on in the Capitol. How is he going to do this? With his own TV show of course, as MSNBC have handed Mia Farrow's son his very own weekday programme.

Talk of Ronan getting his own show has been around for a while now, and on Wednesday, 16 October, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that an agreement had been made and the young Farrow had been given his TV hosting debut. Ronan has appeared on television before, as an guest on some MSNBC and CNN programmes, however his as-yet-untitled show will be the first time he will present a show by himself.

Previously, the 25-year-old Yale law graduate has worked for the Obama administration as foreign policy official, as well as working alongside Hillary Clinton in an advisory role. Mia and Woody Allen's son has also gained experience working within various charities and is a published journalist, having written for The Wall Street Journal, International Herald Tribune and The Atlantic. He has also sold his first book, Pandora's Box: How American Military Aid Creates America’s Enemies, to Penguin Press, which explores the circumstances leading to some recent international crises, and is expected in bookshops by 2015.

Ronan recently spoke with THR about his involvement with the network and said that he hopes to make a show that involves people more than your conventional news programme and addresses certain problems in Washington that traditional news programmes have a tendency to tiptoe around. He said, "I think what people crave is more involvement in the story. There has been a democratization of information. But what they still crave, and what I crave as a TV viewer, is a guide on how people can have agency in the story. And this show is all about empowering people to do that. People want a return to real democracy. They want to respond to these events [in Washington] that there is so much frustration about."

The show is expected to arrive on air by the beginning of 2014, and probably won't discuss the recent rumours surrounding Roan's paternity. He recently said of the rumours, "If anything I was surprised to see it go so far this time. Of course it is an annoyance to have such a high-profile distraction from the substance of what I'm working on; a very meaningful project like this TV show that I think can actually make a difference to people."
