Ron Burgundy appeared on a live newscast this week to deliver some urgent, shocking news. This shouldn't really be news, because reading the news is exactly what Ron Burgundy was born to do, but for some reason people can't get over the fact that the iconic news anchor dropped by Bismarck, North Dakota, to read out the day's headlines. It's his job people!

Anchorman 2
The legend will continue later this month

In the latest in a long sequence of publicity-gaining stunts pulled off ahead of the release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Will Ferrell was back in character to help Bismark's KXNews deliver an edition of the news that people won't soon forget. Being his trademark, clueless self, Burgundy rambled through the headlines with his female co-anchor (isn't it anchorMAN?), delivering the daily, local news to the people of Bismark this weekend.

After hitting on his co-anchor (or was she hitting on him?!) and displaying absolutely no knowledge of the Bismark area or ice hockey whatsoever, the news team award Ron with a thank you present for being co-anchor for the weekend: a sweater that says 'Stay Classy' on it. When it comes time for Ron to deliver the trademark sign off at the end of the news though, Ron looked on cluelessly as the credits began to role.

This is the latest in a series of promotional ploys used ahead of the release of the new Anchorman film. In recent weeks we've seen Ron front his own line of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, pen his own autobiography and he has even had the Ron Burgundy School Of Communication named after him at a Boston college. You can watch a highlights clip of Ron delivering the news below.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will arrive in cinemas on 20 December.
