Today's the day! A new year's worth of rock royalty will tonight be ushered into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Nirvana, Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Cat Stevens, Linda Ronstadt, Hall And Oates, the E Street Band, Andrew Loog Oldham and Brian Epstein are hours away from becoming the newest members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Krist Novoselic Dave Grohl
Former Nirvana Rockers Dave Grohl & Krist Novoselic Will Be Performing At Tonight's Ceremony.

Stevens, now called Yusuf Islam, is going to perform alongside the E Street Band, who are being inducted b Bruce Springsteen, as well as Gabriel. Emmylou Harris, Carrie Underwood, Stevie Nicks and Bonnie Raitt will reportedly be singing a tribute to Ronstadt. SPIN is reporting that Joan Jett will sing the Nirvana tunes, which has ignited rock fan's imagination more than any other rumour.

Joan Jett
Joan Jett Is Strongly Rumoured To Be Stepping In For The Late Nirvana Frontman, Kurt Cobain.

A quarter of a century after the release of Nirvana's debut, Bleach, the grunge rockers are finally being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Jett, singer in The Runaways and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, is strongly rumoured to be stepping in for the late Kurt Cobain, whose death's 20th anniversary passed this week.

Michael Stipe
R.E.M Star Michael Stipe Will Be Presiding Over Nirvana's Hall Of Fame Induction.

The rumour was further fuelled by an Instagram post from Dave Grohl's current band, Foo Fighters, appearing to show Krist Novoselic's bass, Pat Smear's Fender Stratocaster, Grohl's drum set and what is allegedly Jett's Melody Maker. If Jett is to perform with the former Nirvana rockers, the previous theory that R.E.M frontman Michael Stipe is set to fill in for Kurt will be disproved.

Stipe will also preside over the 'In Bloom' rockers' induction, which will be attended by Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, and daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. Love has publically feuded with Kurt's former bandmates but previous quarrels will seemingly be put aside to honour a special night in rock 'n' roll history.

Courtney Love
Courtney Love Will Be Putting Disputes To One Side To Celebrate Nirvana's 25th Anniversary.

"I haven't seen [Dace and Krist] in 20 years," Love told BBC Radio 4 last week. "I wasn't even going to go . [but] as long as it's in service to Frances, everyone's going to be a good boy or a good girl," the Hole singer added.

Tonight's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will be telecast May 31 on HBO.
