Robin Thicke can no longer cruise along in the slipstream of his previously highly successful single 'Blurred Lines'. The 37-year-old's latest album, entitled Paula after his estranged wife, has completely flopped during its first week selling only 530 albums in the UK. Paula came in at No. 200 in the UK chart and it's difficult not to revel in Thicke's failure, as the Guardian reports.

Public opinion is certainly against him especially after the meaning of the lyrics of 'Blurred Lines' was widely discussed. His press tour attempting - but evidently failing miserably - to promote Paula has been punctuated by accusations of misogyny levelled at Thicke. In a recent Twitter Q&A hosted by VH1, many tweeted about the lyrics to 'Blurred Lines' and about his disastrous personal life and choices. As the Independent reports, the hashtag #AskThicke attracted such questions as "When you're not busy objectifying women, making light of rape and justifying sexual violence, how do you like to relax?"

Thicke's Blurred Lines Tour is coming to an end.

Thicke separated from his wife actress Paula Patton in February after nine years of marriage and more than twenty together. The relationship is rumoured to have ended due to Thicke's alleged infidelity. The album was deliberately marketed as Thicke's declaration of love and a desire to win Patton back.

With the backlash from Thicke's No.1 summer hit continuing and his latest album failing, it seems his days in the sun may be coming to an end. Thicke is also coming to the close of his Blurred Lines Tour. The final concert of the tour, which began in February of this year, will be in Rama, Ontario in Canada on 26th July.

Does Thicke have any chance of redemption or is he destined to be a one hit wonder?
