Robin Roberts Thanks Family For Reaching Health Milestone As She Reveals Relationship With Another Women
Robin Roberts publically acknowledges she is a lesbian, for the first time ever, in a heartfelt message thanking family for their support this past year: "I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber."
'Good Morning America' host Robin Roberts addressed her fans to thank them in a pre-New Year's message.
The cancer survivor thanked her family and loved ones for finishing the year in good health, and also mentioned her longtime girlfriend Amber Laign.
This was the first time ever that Roberts has publically acknowledged she is a lesbian.
To celebrate an eventful 2013 coming to an end, the ABC anchor wrote a heartfelt message on her Facebook page this Sunday (Dec 29th).
"I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life," the 53 year-old wrote. "I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.
Adding, "I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold."
Laign, who is from the San Francisco Bay-area, is a licensed massage therapist and has a private practice specializing in patients recovering from injuries.
Her and Roberts have been together for ten years after meeting each other through mutual acquaintances and have lived in New York City ever since.
The Facebook message was also celebrating a milestone in Robin's health as she went through a bone marrow transplant and a breast cancer diagnosis in September 2012.
Sunday marked the one year anniversary of the news anchor reaching 100 days post-transplant surgery.
"Flashback 12/29/12....Hard to believe this was 1 year ago today. When I reached a critical milestone of 100 days post transplant," she wrote.
"Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you," she continued. "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present. At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude."
