Ricky Gervais is "Hooked" on David Brent Again - Former Paper Merchant To Return
Gervais took some time away, but the Brent pull is toooo strong baby
A return for David Brent has been mooted ever since the character was wheeled out for this Comic Relief song. Now, Brent’s creator, Ricky Gervais, says he’s “hooked” on the comedy hit once more, and can’t wait to bring him back in a similar documentary format.

"I didn't want to keep Brent going because I wanted to do other things," he said. "But now I've done other things, it feels safe to revisit it. It's a joy - I got hooked again. I love it, particularly the songs. I'm a failed pop-star and I always sneak a song in, he added.
David Brent and the Foregone Conclusion was a "Trojan Horse" for a new behind-the-scenes documentary spoof, which is set to be broadcast on either Netflix or The BBC. "It's that safety net. Everyone knows that they're spoof songs, but it's still fun to do - it's still great to be a pretend rock star for a day," said Gervais to The Sunday Times.
The format of the show will see Brent attempting to make it in the music industry now that his professional career has come to an end in heartbreaking fashion. "I film it, but actually it's Brent who thinks he's making a Scorsese-type thing of On the Road,” explained Gervais.
"Of course, behind the scenes, it is so much sadder and more poignant. It's Spinal Tap meets sad Scorsese meets Anvil. It's more of the breakdown of this man who thought he was going to be something else."
