The Kinks haven't performed together since 1996, but is the hugely popular rock band about to reunite?

Like many disbanded music acts, the English group, who formed in the early 60's, have had to deal with many years of friction within its members, but this may be all in the past.

The Kinks' frontman Ray Davies recently revealed he has finally had a face-to-face meeting with a founding member of the band, his younger brother Dave.

"I met Dave only last week to talk about getting back together again," he told The Sunday Times, hinting of a reunion.

"We've also spoken a few times on the phone and emailed," Davies continued. "He's been composing his own songs, but I'd really like to write with him again. We both agree we don't want to do old stuff or tour with past hits. It's got to be something new."

The siblings are notorious for being involved in a lengthy rivalry, and they haven't performed with each other in 18 years.

Dave also confirmed that a meeting took place with himself and Ray on Facebook this past Sunday (June 8th).

"I met and talked with Ray but nothing has been agreed on yet," he wrote, and later reiterated, they "have started meeting about a potential The Kinks reunion, but we're not there quite yet."

Back in January news of a reunion first surfaced when Ray, Dave, and the band's original drummer, Mick Avory, spoke with Uncut

Ray was very optimistic as he stated, a reunion show is "as close as it's ever been to happening." But Dave seemed quite apprehensive, adding, "I don't want to see the legacy of the Kinks soured by two miserable old men doing it for the money."
