Peter Hook, the original bass player with Joy Division, has blasted New Order for setting up an official Twitter page for the legendary group without his input. Depressingly, the Joy Division page was set up to help flog the newly released Lyrics & Notebooks of late singer Ian Curtis and Hook was understandably incensed.

Peter HookPeter Hook is not happy

"@neworder Thanks for telling me.. As a member of @joydivision it would have been nice to have been informed" he said on Twitter.

In 2011, New Order announced they had reformed but that Hook would not be part of the line-up, drafting in Tom Chapman instead. Hook disputed the reunion, telling NME, "I'm not against them playing, but what I'm rallying against is the business dealings they've done to secure the New Order trademark, which is oppression of a minority, which is illegal. They've taken the New Order name and the trademark and basically thrown me 50p and said 'That's all your worth tw*tface."

Earlier this month, New Order announced they had signed a worldwide deal with Mute Records and that the next release with be on the legendary label.

"New Order are delighted to be signing to Mute," said the band in a statement, "We couldn't imagine a better place to be than working with Daniel Miller and his team. Mute has a superb roster of artists and a history that complements our own. In many ways joining the label feels like we are coming home, returning to our independent roots."

JOY DIVISION disbanded after the death of singer Ian Curtis in 1980.
