Jobs At Netflix, or Anywhere, Probably Don't Get Much Sweeter Than This

We’ve seen dream jobs enter the zeitgeist before; looking after a tropical island, making YouTube videos for a living, being a Blue Peter Presenter. But this one might just engulf the entire biscuit in one outlandish bite. Fancy being a Netflix tagger? Here’s what it means.

Netflix

It means you watch things, at home, tag them based on content, rinse, repeat. "The role will offer flexible hours working from home" reads the spec for the dream job, and "would suit those with a passion for films and TV programmes".

So you’ll be watching Rugrats one minute, tagging it under ‘childrens’ and, probably, ‘surreal’, then you’ll be taking in a 60s Japanese thriller and decided what that should be filed under. ‘60s’, ‘Japanese’ and ‘Thriller’ might be a good place to start.

Of course, you don’t just get paid to watch TV; Netflix want someone with an encyclopaedic knowledge of film and television who’ll be able to further their online content by making sure it’s seen by the right people.

And, before you think about applying, you should know that this is the first position of its kind to be offered outside of the Americas, and, if you were lucky enough to get the job, you’d be one of around 40 that work for the company.

In fact, according to the Independent, current Netflix Taggers include “a mum who speaks fluent Hindi and has worked on several procedural crime shows, a French native and former keyboard player in Stereolab now living in New York who tags French-language content and a film director working on his third feature starring Tim Roth who lives in Mexico City and tags Spanish-language content.”

Good luck.
