The Pop Culture Singularity Approaches As Miley Cyrus And Madonna Perform Together On "Unplugged"
On Tuesday night, Miley Cyrus joined the scores of iconic performers to perform on MTV Unplugged. Also, Madonna was there.
For a young pop singer, performing with Madonna is practically a rite of passage and so is performing on MTV Unplugged. So it was about time Miley did it too. Madge and her younger, twerking counterpart performed together on Unplugged and it was... different. Miley’s entire set was completely over the top, as things usually are when Cyrus gets involved, but the duet with Madonna had to have been the highlight of the night.
If you've ever wondered what a duet between Miley Cyrus and Madonna would look like - this is your chance.
The show, complete with all the sequins, bodysuits and neon that money could buy, went from intimate and emotional on tracks like Drive and Wrecking Ball, to a full on Party in the USA – now with 100% more twerking.
Of course, the crowning moment of the whole show was the duet, during which Madonna stepped up in full-on cowgirl garb (matching Miley’s) and the two performed a mashup of "Don't Tell Me" and "We Can't Stop.” How very appropriate. 55-year-old Madonna matched her 21-year-old protégé move for move.
This really had to happen at some point.
"That was pretty f---ing cool you guys. It was one of those days that was pretty easy to get out of bed. I get to perform with Madonna in bedazzled cowboy boots. I can't really complain about anything," Miley gushed as Madonna two-stepped off the stage. "Well, I can't perform when I'm stoned. That's one thing to complain, I guess."
