Kissing Katy Perry, Singing With The Flaming Lips - All In A Night's Work For Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus brought Bangerz to LA. Then things happened.
Miley Cyrus might have all the confidence in the world… but Katy Perry just wasn’t in the mood at Cyrus’ gig at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. A lot of stuff happened at Miley’s Saturday concert, but there’s one moment in particular set the blogs atwitter by Sunday morning. During her performance of Adore You, Cyrus spotted her fellow pop star in the crowd and went in for what Perry must have assumed was a chaste peck on the cheek. Instead, the Dark Horse singer pulled away stunned after Miley went for a full on make out.At least that’s what the video released by TMZ suggests.
Miley just couldn't win over Katy Perry for some reason.
Other than that, the show went smoothly enough and Cyrus even managed to have a fangirl moment of her own, as Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of Flaming Lips joined her onstage for a cover of their own “Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Part 1” It was a clean cover and Miley definitely contributed despite being visibly nervous throughout.
Who knew Miley was such a fan of the Flaming Lips though?
Before the song, Cyrus used the moment to gush, “You don’t understand what this means right now,” telling Coyne “I’m so fucking scared.” “Now I’m scared,” Coyne responded before the trio performed the Lips’ classic single along with Cyrus’s band. “It was my only time to sing with you, Miley, and I fucked up,” Coyne said afterwards (he didn’t really) prompting Cyrus to ask if he was drunk. “I’m a little bit drunk right now too,” she revealed. “Let’s do it again.” And they did, proving that the best shows come out of improvisation. “This is the best night of my entire life,” she shouted after.
She did win over the Flaming Lips, though. Watch the duet below.
