Miley Cyrus' 4th studio album 'Bangerz' debuts at No.1 on the Billboard 200 album charts. In a chart dominated by debut releases 'Bangerz' reached the top spot by selling 270,000 copies in its first week of release, according to figures from Nielson SoundScan.

The album contains hit singles such as 'We can't Stop' released June 3rd and 'Wrecking Ball' released August 25th and Miley pulled out all the stops to promote her latest studio set.

The now infamous performance at this year's MTV VMA's with Robin Thicke sparked a media frenzy, as the 20 year-olds actions on stage were deemed inappropriate and offensive, mainly referring to the instance Cyrus seductively grinded on the crotch of the 'Blurred Lines' singer.

Miley hit the headlines again when her music video for the track 'Wrecking Ball', directed by photographer Terry Richardson, who is known for his nude shots of Lady Gaga and Kate Upton. The video saw Cyrus swing from a wrecking ball totally nude and bizarrely licking a large sledgehammer.

The evolution of the former 'Hannah Montana' star was unveiled in front of the public's eyes and the 'Party in the U.S.A' singer showed her transformation from a child Disney star into a young women.

This, of course, got the public, the media, the music industry and a whole lot more people talking about Cyrus, which gave 'Bangerz' a large amount of exposure and helped the album debut at No.1.

Panic! At The Disco's 'Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die' which sold 84,000 copies debuts at No.2 and Drake's 'Nothing Was There Same' falls a spot to the third position. Rapper Pusha T debuts his 1st studio album, 'My Name Is My Name' at No.4, selling 75,000 and finishing off the top 5 is Justin Timberlake's 'The 20/20 Experience: part 2 of 2' selling 70,000 copies.
