Meg Ryan will be returning to television for a role on the small screen...well, sort of.

The 52 year-old actress has reportedly joined the cast of the 'How I Met Your Mother' spin-off, CBS's forthcoming 'How I Met Your Dad.'

Ryan will be the unseen narrator for the pilot of the new show, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The 'When Harry Met Sally' actress will provide the voice of "future Sally," a very similar role to the one Bob Saget played in the original 'HIMYM' series. He provided the future voice of Josh Radnor's character, Ted.

Ryan's character will be played by the upcoming series' lead actress Greta Gerwig, who will also serve as a writer, in the flashbacks.

Nick D'Agosto, Anders Holm and Drew Tarver, are also reportedly starring in the 'How I Met Your Dad' pilot, which tells the story of a sweet and free-spirited lady in her late twenties living in New York City, whose biggest issue is that she's afraid of growing up.

However, unlike Ted in the original, Sally is already married at the beginning of the show, but while her friends help find the father of her children, Sally realizes her current marriage isn't working out and it quickly begins to end.

The spin-off has already received a huge blow as actress/singer Krysta Rodriguez, who was set to play Juliet, the best friend of lead actress Greta Gerwig's character, walked away from the show.
