Teri Polo isn't as successful as some may think as she has been forced to file for bankruptcy.

The 44 year-old actress claims to owe nearly $1 million in back taxes and credit card bills, with most needing to be paid to the IRS.

According to TMZ, Polo filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last week, claiming to owe around $772,000 in back taxes and $36,000 on credit cards.

'The West Wing' actress filed a petition on April 14th at a Los Angeles court, and she also reportedly professed to have less than $50,000 in assets.

Polo, who is most well-known for starring alongside Ben Stiller in 'Meet The Parents' and the two sequels 'Meet The Fockers' and 'Little Fockers,' is currently featured on ABC Family's 'The Foster's'.'

However, she first garnered commercial success when appearing as Ben's character's (Gaylord 'Greg' Focker) fiancé, Pam Byrnes, who takes him to meet her family for the first time. But when her mother and suspicious former CIA agent father, played by Robert De Niro, try to bond with Greg-hilarious situations ensue.

The comedy was one of the most successful movies of that year, and earned an impressive $330 million at the box office.

Polo's movie career didn't take off as she may have hoped, and one explanation is her decision to pose nude for Playboy in 2005, altohugh the actress does not regret it in the slightest.

"It was one of the best experiences of my life," she previously told Hollywood Life. "I'm very proud. We shouldn't be ashamed of the human body. The human body is beautiful, and it's a shame we put such a taboo on certain things. Why be ashamed? It's such a beautiful thing."

Teri recently starred in a film called 'A Bit of Bad Luck,' a title which seems to fit her life perfectly at this time.
