Machete Cortez is back, and this time he's got the President of the United States for a boss as he embarks on his most outrageous and dangerous adventure yet. In the sequel to 2010's Machete, Robert Rodriguez and Danny Trejo are both back as director and star respectively, in a film that has plenty to offer if you're up for a B-movie spectacle. It not, you should probably heed the words of warning from most critics, and avoid Machete Kills at all costs. Just go see Gravity or Captain Phillips this weekend instead.

The most badass killer every known (in this movie universe at least), Machete has teamed up with the President of the USA (played by Charlie Sheen, who adopted his birth name, Carlos Estévez, for the credits) to stop a plot from anarchist mentalist named Mendez (Demian Bichir) to destroy Washington D.C. with a nuclear bomb.

Things aren't as simple as they sound though, as we and Machete soon learn that Mendez's plot is only the tip of the iceberg in this maddening plot. He soon learns that there are very few people out there he can actually trust, and when he stumbles upon the smarmy arms dealer Luther Voz (Mel Gibson), our ruthless hero learns of another plot, one that could bring the whole world to it's knees.

Just from that little synopsis it should be pretty easy to tell whether this movie is for you or not. You either go for the action scenes, the humor that is scattered around the film through the purposefully absurd premises and most of all, the bevy of beauties on display throughout the film, or you skip the film and go see something with a plot and sense of self respect.

Seriously though, you'll struggle to find a film this year with more eye candy for the men, with Sofia Vergara, Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Michelle Rodriguez and more all featuring in the film. Even Lady GaGa appears, making her acting debut.

Go see Machete Kills with caution though, as some critics are even questioning the film's credentials as a B-movie. As Peter Hartlaub of the San Francisco Chronicle wrote in his review, "Machete Kills is exploitation cinema, in the same way that a teen who pays $28 at the mall for a Sex Pistols T-shirt is a punk rocker."

Machete Kills is out in cinemas on 11 October.
