Once Upon A Dream: The Cast of Disney's 'Maleficent'
We all know Angelina Jolie will play Maleficent, but who else will be starring in the film?
Unless you’ve already guessed, we’re a little bit excited for Maleficent to come out on May 30th. We can't help but let out a little shriek each time a new trailer is released or we hear some more information about the plot. Fortunately, we do already know the cast of Maleficent, so in the meantime we thought we’d check them out and question how right they are for their roles.
15 year old Elle Fanning has been cast as Princess Aurora
Princess Aurora: Elle Fanning
Elle Fanning is the little sister of fellow actress, Dakota Fanning. Born in 1998, 15 year old Elle began acting when she was just three years old. In 2011 Fanning scored her breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s Super 8, for which her performance was critically acclaimed.
Elle certainly has the characteristics of Princess Aurora, one of Disney’s classic princesses. Her long blonde hair, blue eyes and rosy cheeks give her a radiant glow, and from her voiceover in the trailer it sounds like she has the stereotypical delicate young princess routine down. We wonder if she’ll be all sweetness and light in the film, or if Aurora’s character will be expanded on a little more.
Do you think Elle Fanning was the right choice to play the Princess Aurora?
Prince Phillip: Brenton Thwaites
Australian actor Brenton Thwaites is tasked with the challenge of battling through a magical thorn bush and defeating Maleficent in order to rescue Aurora. Thwaites follows in the footsteps of many other Australian actors who have made it big, having starred in Home and Away between 2011-2012. If the careers of Liam and Chris Hemsworth are anything to go by, Thwaites will have no problem taking on the action as well as getting in touch with his more tender side.
