Eminem, Outkast, Kings Of Leon and Skrillex have been officially announced as the headliners for this year’s Lollapalooza festival. The festival will take place over the August 1-3 weekend at its home of Chicago’s Grant Park. This year’s line-up looks pretty impressive, with more dance acts being featured than ever before and a diverse collection of artists.

Overall, over 130 artists have now been confirmed with Arctic Monkeys playing just before Eninem, giving the British rockers their most prominent US festival slot to date. Lorde will play underneath with Above & Beyond, Interpol, Chvrches, AFI, The Kooks, Rudimental, Iggy Azalea, Bombay Bicycle Club and Warpaint all appearing on August 1st. The next day Calvin Harris supports Outkast with Nas, Chase & Status, Kate Nash and Foster the People also on the bill. The final day sees the Avett Brothers, Childish Gambino, Chance the Rapper, The 1975 and White Denim all appearing on the line up with Skrillex and Kings of Leon.

Three day passes for the event have already sold out, with all the weekend tickets being snapped up an hour after they went on sale this Monday. However single-day passes and various VIP packages will be available made available from today through Lollapalooza.com.

Kings of LeonKings of Leon are also headed for Lollapalooza

The headline acts are already pretty familiar with the festival, Kings of Leon previously headlined 2009, while Eminem also took the top spot in 2011, the same year Skrillex made his festival debut. The only first timers are Outkast who are of course spending their summer making over 40 festival appearances to mark their 20th anniversary. Last year the Cure, Mumford & Sons, the Killers, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix and The Postal Service all took prominent slots at the festival.

The festival was founded in 1991 by Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell and ran annually until 1997. It was resurrected again in 2003 but in 2004 the event was cancelled. The festival then found its home in Chicago’s Grant Park in 2005 where it has been held ever since.

This year marks Lollapalooza’s most diverse line-up yet with more and more dance acts being added. However rock and hip hop are still reigning supreme with most acts fitting into that category. The amazing lineup does look like the festival’s best yet, so expect Grant Park to be packed over the August weekend.
