Lilly Allen has kept relatively quiet about a personal tragedy that occurred in November 2010.

The 28 year-old pop star suffered a miscarriage during her pregnancy with husband Sam Cooper.

Only days after losing her unborn baby, Allen was rushed to hospital and came close to death due to septicaemia – poisoning of the blood.

Speaking for the very first time about the horrific ordeal nearly 4 years ago, the ‘Hard Out Here’ singer told The Sun on Sunday: “I nearly died. But I was so numb and I didn’t care. I’d just lost my baby and that is how numb I was.”

“It’s something that I still haven’t dealt with,” she admitted. “I will never get over it. I have dealt with it, you know as being at one with it. But it’s not something you get over.”

Even though after Allen recovered from the successful surgery, and went on to give birth to two daughters – Ethel (2) and Marnie (1), the memory of the tragedy is still as raw and painful as ever.

“I held my child and it was really horrific and painful – one of the hardest things that can happen to a person,” she explained.
