The Lego Movie Set For Release Later This Week

Danish company The Lego Group have partnered up with Warner Brothers for the first feature length Lego film, The Lego Movie, set to hit the big screen in 2014.

A child's imagination is what made Lego blocks what they were. They could make a spaceship, a Wild West shootout or even a pirate ship come to life; well, maybe for a few hours until the few remaining pieces left out were embedded in a parent's foot.  Now it has reached a safer place for adults as the loveable figures make their way from the toy box onto the big-screen in 3D animation comes Warner Brothers production:  'The Lego Movie'. With a highly admirable voiceover cast of Will Arnett, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Channing Tatum and Elizabeth Banks, the film looks ready to be a 2014 BLOCK-buster sensation.

Rotten Tomatoes has seen an 8.3/10 rating for the Phil Lord and Christopher Miller production, with its consensus branding it 'colourful fun for all ages'. The film follows protagonist Emmet (Chris Pratt), a very ordinary, law abiding citizen, who ends up on a journey to stop the tyrant President Business (Will Ferrell). According to The Telegraph's review, the film's plot is rather a 'Star Wars-Matrix hybrid with jokes, that bounds along with a kind of crazed, caffeinated energy'.

The directors/writers of The Lego movie have had hits with 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' one and two, and also '21 Jump Street'. They spoke to Movies Coming Soon, and stated that the inspiration for the film came from the fans and 'All of the brick films online. we loved pouring over all the crazy little films people were making'. The duo had a lot of work to make the film authentic and true to the feel of Lego, moving between CGI and stop-motion techniques.

US audiences can have their say on February 7th 2014.
