Lady GaGa is heading into space as soon as 2015. Just imagine the pun opportunities! She’s taking over the Gaga-laxy! She was never really down-to-earth! She was Born This (Milky) Way! We’ll leave it at that, because those were pretty terrible, but you get the gist. In all seriousness, the Artpop star really is set to conquer space, meaning fly off into orbit on a Virgin Galactic ship and perform one song during her flight. Makes you wonder which song exactly, a matter which is likely to be a last-minute surprise. Venus sounds like a good bet though – seems to fit the occasion pretty well.

Lady Gaga will be the first entertainer in space.

The big event is set to take place during Zero G Colony, a high-tech music festival, set to take place at Spaceport America in New Mexico. The historical flight is going to happen at dawn on the third and final day of Zero G Colony, capping off the festival. It will be approximately six months after the very first Virgin Galactic space flight. What a way to christen the service!

Makes sense when you think about it.

Somehow it makes sense that Lady Gaga would be the first entertainer to perform in space. Naturally, the Applause singer isn’t going along – it takes a lot of people to be that fabulous (probably). But just in case things go less than fabulously, the good folk at Us Weekly inform us that the pop star has taken out “a ridiculous life insurance policy!" That is according to a trusted source, of course.

Maybe a duet with Katy Perry on ET can be next?
