Kirstie Alley Slams Leah Remini Over Scientology Remarks

Kirstie Alley has finally been given a channel to lift the lid on her feelings towards ex-Scientologist and actress Leah Remini. The actress, comedian and fierce Scientology supporter vented her anger on Wednesday's edition of The Howard Stern Show.

Though Alley was being interviewed on the show to promote her own new sitcom, Kirstie, the conversation moved to her faith and how she claimed that Scientology had saved her younger self from destruction when she was a cocaine addict.

Leah Remini left the Church of Scientology in July after what she claims was years of interrogation and thought modification. Speaking to People magazine at the time, the former Kings of Queens actress said "I believe that people should be able to question things. I believe that people should value family, and value friendships, and hold those things sacrosanct," adding, "That for me, that's what I'm about. It wouldn't matter what it was, simply no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to."

Remini alleged that the wife of Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige, Michelle Miscavige, had disappeared under mysterious circumstances and filed a missing persons report. Though the Church of Scientology hit back at the claims in a statement, dismissing Remini's claims as "nothing more than a publicity stunt," it seems that Kirstie Alley felt that the case wasn't quite closed.

"I think that is the most repulsive thing a person can do, attack another person's faith," Alley said when asked by Stern if she feels persecuted in Hollywood for her beliefs. "Because a faith is what you look to to have hope, and is what you look to help other people, and I just think it's really wrong," via The Huffington Post.

Stern quizzed his guest on whether she was upset with Remini for leaving Scientology and being so critical since her departure. "When you are generalizing, and when your goal is to malign and to say things about an entire group -- there are tens of millions of scientologists in the world -- when you decide to blanket statement, 'Scientology is evil,' you are my enemy," said Alley.

Alley Branded Remini "A Bigot" For Her Criticism Of Scientology.

The 62 year-old admitted that although she hadn't seen Remini in some years, she had taken the action of blocking her fellow actress on Twitter. Without mincing her words, Alley said "She's a bigot," before asking Stern: "If someone was out there [attacking your religion], would they be your friend? They wouldn't be mine ... It's not selective, I just won't have people in my life that are [bigots]."

This isn't the first time Alley has been enraged by Leah's actions: she was said to be "livid" at an episode of Dancing With The Stars during which Leah referred to her former faith. "The church is looking for me to fail so they can say to their parishioners, 'Look what happens when you leave,'" the 43-year-old told dancing partner Tony Dovolani. "They're waiting for me to fail," as reported by The Daily Mail.
