It Happened: Kian Egan Announces Plans For Debut Solo Album
The ex-Westlife singer will try and follow up his 'I'm A Celeb.' success by relaunching his music career
Kian Egan is the reigning King of the Jungle after being crowned the victor of the last season of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here and now he wants to be King of the Charts once again as he plans on re-launching his singing career.
Egan was crowned the winner of I'm A Celeb... last year
The former Westlife singer is heading back to the studio to begin work on his debut solo album, saying he's "excited" to get started.
"I am incredibly excited to be recording an album with Warner Music," the former boyband member told Digital Spy this week. "Music is my first love, and to be able to get in the studio to record these amazing songs by such wonderful writers is such a thrill and an honour for me."
Kian has already made a start on the album and expects to have it finalised over the coming weeks. The album will consist largely of cover versions of some of Kian's favourite songs, with the press release for his album stating that Kian plans to put his own "personal touches" to some of the classic songs due to appear on the album. Egan is working with producer Brian Rawling on the album, who has previously recorded with One Direction and Kylie Minogue.
In addition to his new solo album, Kian is also one of the judges on The Voice of Ireland, the Irish version of the hit singing contest. Since his win on I'm A Celebrity... last year, Egan has been in demand and his new album may find him even further success. The new album will be released on 17 March.
