Katy Perry's music video for her latest single 'Roar' was released yesterday. The video sees Perry crash landing in the jungle and, with her usual kitsch gusto, quickly takes over. She tames a tiger; aptly named 'Kitty Purry'; feeds a monkey; brushes a crocodile's teeth; and showers with the help of an elephant.

The singer performed her new single at the MTV Video Music Awards last month but her performance was overshadowed by Miley Cyrus' outrageous appearance. Her outfit perfectly matched her latest single; she appeared on the red carpet at the Awards wearing a leopard print midi dress, complete with insect adornments.

Referencing one line in her song "the eye of the tiger", Perry sported boxing gloves for her performance at the awards ceremony, in homage of the Rocky theme song. Her video is, unavoidably given the content of the song, based in a tropical jungle complete with Perry's own cutesy twists.

Perry's single -and video- have been well received by fans. 'Roar' reached No.1 on Billboard's Hot 100, usurping Robin Thicke. Fans have tweeted their praise and questions to the 28-year-old pop sensation. One asked which animal Perry has enjoyed working with the most, to which she replied "Suzy the elephant", because of her voracious appetite. Other fans tweeted their praise, and were promptly retweeted by Perry, their comments include "didn't disappoint"; "amazing"; and some reacted with "tears of happiness".

'Roar' is the first single to be released from Perry's third studio album Prism, due to be released on October 22nd 2013.
