Just because Kate Hudson's engagement to Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has lasted for more than three years doesn't mean she is avoiding marriage, in fact the 35 year-old actress is rather looking forward to tying the knot for a second time.

"It's a long engagement," she told the mag. "I think the best part is that knowing you're working towards the idea of a commitment that is hopefully as long of a stretch as you can pull it and forever seems beautiful... I think it's a real journey."

"There is a traditional meet, fall in love, get married, have children. And I am working on a very non-traditional life, and it's just happening that way," she continued. "But I look forward to the wedding day because when that happens to me, marriage what I really love about it is bringing the families together, and the kids."

Hudson and Bellamy share a three year-old son, Bingham, and the 'Wish I Was Here' actress is also a mother to another son, born in 2004, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Robinson. Fortunately, the blonde beauty can relate to her children having famous parents as her mother and father were Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, and not long after being born she became the stepdaughter to Hawn's longtime love Kurt Russell.

However, despite being in the public eye Hudson and Bellamy try to maintain a close family life, which can be hard at times due to their busy work schedules.

"We are not that long distance," Hudson told Women's Health. "And we both travel for work. How I make it work is we try not to spend too much time apart. We try not to spend more than two weeks apart. When you have kids it kind of goes without saying. You don't want to be away from your kids for more than two weeks. And we travel together."
