Kate Bush tickets for her second tour, and first since 1979, are to go on sale on Friday March 28 at 09.30 GMT. An announcement on her website said she will play 15 shows at London's Hammersmith Apollo in August and September - so less of a tour, and more a residency, actually.

The title of the show is Before the Dawn with the first date set for August 26.

Bush's first and last tour (until now) in 1979 featured mime, magic and poetry alongside performances of her biggest hits including Wuthering Heights. However, the string of dates took its toll on the famously reclusive singer, who was only 20-years-old at the time.

"By the end" she recalled afterwards, "I felt a terrific need to retreat as a person because I felt that my sexuality, which in a way I hadn't really had a chance to explore myself, was being given to the world in a way which I found impersonal."

The six-week tour travelled around Britain and mainland Europe and ended at the Hammersmith Odeon - the venue she has chosen to play her returning shows.

Speaking to the BBC three years ago, Bush refused to rule out touring again, saying, "I do have the odd dream where I'm on stage and I've completely forgotten what I'm meant to be performing - so they are more nightmares than dreams."

"[They] didn't stop me," she told Radio 4's Front Row, "but I do think if I were to do any live work, I'd be completely petrified to start with."

Bush's third album in 18 years - 50 Words For Snow, released in 2011 - was Brit-nominated and was considered one of the musical highlights of that year. Her classic song Running Up That Hill was used in Danny Boyle's Olympics opening ceremony and Bush was honoured with a CBE from the Queen in 2013.
