Kanye West - Harvard School Of Design Welcomes Kanye West As Guest Speaker

If there’s one person in showbiz right now that the words “on his grind” can be applied to with full force, that’s probably Kanye West, who took a detour to Harvard of all places before his Boston gig last night. Before setting off for the latest concert from his revived Yeezus tour, West gave the crowd at the Harvard School of Design an inspiring speech about why he thinks design is important.

Kanye has been promoting his design endeavors as much as possible lately.

As usual, Yeezy’s generally worthy message was contained in a bit of a ramble, as the rapper/designer explained why how and why he’s done two-hour interviews with the likes of Oprah Winfrey.

"The reason why I turn up so much in interviews is because I've tasted what it means to create and to be able to impact and affect in a positive way, and I know there is more creativity to happen," he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "I know there are traditionalists that hold back the good thoughts and there are people [in] offices that stop the creative people and are intimidated by actual good ideas. And I believe, like, utopia is actually possible. But we're led by the least noble, the least dignified, the least tasteful, the dumbest and the most political. In no way am I a politician; I'm usually at my best politically incorrect and very direct. I really appreciate you guys' willingness to hone your craft and not be lazy."

Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Givenchy at Paris Fashion Week
Kanye and Kim Kardashian made a few highly publicized appearances at Paris Fashion Week this year.

According to Virgil Abloh, the creative manager of West’s design company DONDA (named after the rapper’s late mother) the lecture was part of Kanye’s DONDA Design Lecture series. "Just gave a talk at Harvard GSD with Kanye. Super surreal. #DONDA design lecture series #yeezustour," Abloh posted on Instagram.

The talk was covered from all sides, as Kim Kardashian, social media queen and West’s fiancé also attended and instagrammed a picture, along with the message: "My baby speaking at the Harvard Graduate School of Design."

Proud mum Kim Kardashian broke the news today by sharing an adorable snap of the pair, revealing that little North took her first steps straight after finishing a swimming lesson. This is a huge milestone in North's life and it's understandable that Kim wants to share the moment with her legions of fans. Dad Kanye was also on hand, not pictured in the cute photo as he was one who took it!

It's the latest in a week of good news for Kim, who has been riding high on the success of her mobile game, 'Kim Kardashian: Hollywood'. The game has five stars on the Apple App Store and is tipped to become the next Candy Crush, arguably the ruler of the mobile game market. Husband Kanye has also made the headlines with a new photoshoot and cover for GQ magazine, which he styled himself with clothes from his own wardrobe.

The Instagram photo also comes the day after Beyonce shared a similarly adorable snap of herself and husband Jay-Z walking with their daughter Blue Ivy. Surely it's only a matter of time before we see photos of North and Blue Ivy having playdates together.

But here's the big question; what will North West's first word be? Hopefully she won't inherit her father's knack for saying strange things- in his new GQ interview he compares himself to a blowfish, which has baffled the magazine's readers.

Scott Disick Hospitalised With Alcohol Poisoning, But Is Kourtney Kardashian Relationship Trouble The Reason? 4291608 News

Scott Disick was allegedly hospitalised last month after drinking heavily and was treatment for alcohol poisoning. The news was revealed yesterday (17th July) by an US entertainment website. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star had reportedly been drinking excessively on June 22nd at a Hamptons nightclub and shortly after he was rushed to the emergency room of a nearby hospital.

Disick was spotted drinking at a 10ak nightclub in Southampton and was photographed with beer in hand. However, he evidently moved on to something stronger as numerous sources and publications report he was admitted to Southampton Hospital the same night. As TMZ reports, Disick was apparently so drunk he feared he had been drugged and couldn't even speak properly.

Interestingly, Disick was hospitalised mere days after Kourtney reportedly threw him out of their rented Hamptons house. It also happened to be a day after Kourtney and their two children were attending North West's birthday party in Los Angeles, notably without Disick. Could relationship problems have been at the root of Disick's binge?

Sources suggest otherwise and imply Disick was using alcohol as a means of coping with the loss of his parents. Speaking to People, a source described how Disick was coping well considering the personal losses he has suffered over the past year. The 31-year-old's parents, Jeffrey and Bonnie Disick died within three months of one another, Bonnie passing away in October 2013 and Jeffrey in January 2014. The source said "He's had an unimaginable year losing his parents. There have been highs and lows, and he's just doing his best trying to work through everything. He's really making progress."

The source also added how Disick is now "doing great". Other sources (speaking to TMZ) have claimed Disick has had an epiphany and has not touched a drop since the incident. The entertainment website also reports Disick is receiving counselling from Pastor Rich Wilkinson Jr., who married Kanye West and Kim Kardashian in May.

Disick is father to Mason (aged 4) and Penelope (aged 2) with his partner of seven years, Kourtney. The couple are also expecting a third child together. Despite reports of marital unrest, the couple seem to be doing well for the time being. On Wednesday, Disick shared an Instagram picture of him kissing Kourtney whilst in a rowing boast. He captioned the image "Like The Notebook. Only better."

Kim Kardashian's Game Reportedly Earns Her Millions & She Certainly Needs It After Spending $1.5 Million On North West 4290376 News

Reports are suggesting Kim Kardashian's profits from her recently released game could earn her anything between $45 million and $85 million. It certainly seems the reality star may need it as she's shopping and spending for two. The 33-year-old has allegedly spent $1.5 million on her daughter North West since she was born in June 2013.

Kim KardashianKim Kardashian may earn anything up to $85 million for her game.

A US entertainment website has claimed Kardashian could make $85 million from her game Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. She reportedly has a 45% cut from the game which was released for Android and iOS at the end of June. As the website reports, the game is estimated to earn $200 million and expenses will not reach more than $10 million. Thus as TMZ estimates, Kardashian is set to stand $85.5 million.

However, the Guardian has considered the actual figures and expenses behind the game and the British newspaper's analysts suspect Kardashian's earnings may be closer to $45 million.

Nevertheless, Kardashian's game is hugely popular and the figure will definitely be in the millions. This is fortunate as Kardashian has possibly one of the most expensive babies on the planet. Her daughter, North, with rapper Kanye West was born in June of last year and already estimates are suggested Kardashian has spent over $1.5 million on the baby.

<iframe src="//instagram.com/p/pH2uEluS6_/embed/" width="636" height="710" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>

North's designer baby wardrobe, according to the Irish Independent, cost over $200,000 whilst her jewellery cost almost $240,000. Yet by far the most extravagant purchase was of a body double for the year old infant. Apparently, Kim and Kanye's spotlight has ensured their daughter is unable to avoid media attention and they went to a Los Angeles acting agency to see if they could find a body double for privacy's sake. The couple, who married in June, reportedly pay the double $630,000 a year.

Sources, as the newspaper reports, claim "Kim and Kanye hired the lookalike to shield North from the paparazzi." Further explained how a body double nanny was also hired in order to "throw the paps off the scent."

Dancing In Denver! Budweiser Made In America Explore Colorado's Exciting Music Scene 4285702 News

Budweiser Made in America
Budweiser Made in America

We explore the diverse Denver music scene as Budweiser unveil the latest in their series of documentaries ahead of the fast-approaching Budweiser Made in America festival.

When Jay-Z embarked on his Budweiser Made in America project, the ethos he wanted to represent was simple; bringing together bands and artists of all genres to celebrate the rich variation that has become the US musical community. And where better to enjoy this multi-genre theme than Denver, Colorado, home to the likes of everyone from gentle folk rock crooners The Lumineers to industrial Goth collective Velvet Acid Christ?

If there's one thing to be said about Colorado music, it's that the locals unreservedly adore it. 'The crowds are just so responsive', says Odd Future's Tyler The Creator, who wishes his own hometown in California could be more that way. 'They let all their coolness go and just have fun. That's what sucks about LA and other places; people are too cool to have a good time at shows.'

Maybe this lack of inhibition is what fills the Denver music fans with the desire to get involved; as Jay Blanghi, the owner of gig venue Quixote's True Blue, explained, despite the genre diversity there have always been a lot of 'jam bands' around. Robert Schneider from The Apples In Stereo (and later Elephant 6) admits that his own experiences with rock music in Denver led him to want to join in the fun. 'There was a band called The Fluid; The Fluid were amazing, their songs were catchy, they were so raucous... I just loved them', he gushes. 'The Fluid were probably immediately responsible for us starting The Apples and, along with our other friends, we formed Elephant 6.' As proof of their stubbornly independent style, The Apples co-signed to Elijah Wood's independent label Simian Records alongside the very different Heloise and the Savoir Faire.

There is so much quirkiness in the Colorado sound, the collective enthusiasm for making music coming out in different experimental projects everywhere you look. Take DeVotchKa, for example; they're a multi-instrumental band you'd find hard to pigeonhole. Playing everything from the theremin to the accordian, it's no wonder this band have become a cult favourite and was even selected to score the acclaimed comedy 'Little Miss Sunshine'. Indie band Tennis are another who like to mix things up a bit, having been founded by two people with very different musical visions. They are already releasing their third studio album 'Ritual In Repeat' in September, despite having only formed four years ago.

However, it seems that despite the diversity, Denver does have a favourite style of music. 'Electronic music/bass music is very big out here', DJ duo Two Fresh explain. 'There's at least two or three good shows a week that you'd want to go and see.' Big Gigantic from nearby Boulder, Colorado says their own interest in making electronic music started with Fort Collins native Pretty Lights, who inspired them with his various gigs around the State.

Unfortunately, as of yet it doesn't seem that Denver has made it's mark on the Budweiser Made in America line-up this year, but there's still a lot to look forward to. LA sees Imagine Dragons and John Mayer headlining, with Steve Aoki, Juanes, Afrojack and Kendrick Lamar as support. Also up there are Chicago punk rockers Rise Against, trilby loving Pennsylvanian ZZ Ward, Rita Ora, Chance The Rapper and Californian hip hop collective Cypress Hill. Over in Philadelphia, Kanye West and Kings Of Leon are topping the bill, just above Tiesto, The National and Pharrell Williams. Synthpop New Yorkers Holy Ghost!, Jack Antonoff side project Bleachers, electronic rock band Awolnation and California's The Neighbourhood will also make appearances.

The festival takes place on August 30th - 31st 2014.

Whilst back in Philadelphia, the Kings of Leon will headline on the Sunday with the likes of Pharrell Williams and Steve Aoki.

The first day of the Los Angeles festival will be headlined by Imagine Dragons and Iggy Azalea will also be performing alongside. Australian born Azalea has surprised the world of hip-hop music with her sky rocketing career. Although the 24-year-old has been attempting to build a career for herself for the past eight years, her appearances in 2013 including supporting Beyoncé and her 2014 track 'Fancy' have arguably ensured she is currently one of the biggest names.

Most recently Azalea appeared at the ESPY Awards with her LA Lakers player boyfriend Nick Young on Wednesday evening (16th July). Azalea also performed 'Fancy' at the event which honours members of the sporting community and she took this into account by wearing a matching black and turquoise crop top and leggings set.

Made In Minnesota: Budweiser Made in America Documents The Best City Music Of The States 4280365 News

Budweiser Made in America festival is on its way and, to celebrate, the beer brand unveil a series of music documentaries in different States: this week we explore Minnesota!

Being such a huge part of the world, America has always borne a massively diverse music ethos. In almost every part of the country you can come across a different musical culture and it's with this idea in mind that world famous rap star Jay-Z decided to create Budweiser Made in America festival. It's sole purpose is to bring together a choice selection of both up-and-coming and well-established artists spanning all genres including rock, hip hop, R&B, electronic, punk... the list goes on.

Budweiser are bringing together some of the most influential States of the US in terms of music in a series of documentaries in the run up to Budweiser Made in America festival. Among them are Minnesota. 'Go buy everything from 1984 out of Minneapolis and you'll get a pretty good idea what's happening' is the advice of Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson when it comes to the music scene in his hometown. He formed the band with his brother Bob Stinson in 1979 and subsequently signed to Twin/Tone Records; an independent label that also saw the likes of The Magnolias, riot grrrl band Babes In Toyland and Soul Asylum among its artists.

These were the kind of bands that were held in high esteem for the future aspiring musicians in Minnesota - so much so that later artists spread the vibe elsewhere. Craig Finn from The Hold Steady grew up in Edina near Minneapolis and had huge respect for the kind of sound that came from the city. 'The Replacements were like my team in the same way the Minnesota Twins [baseball team] were', he mused. 'You felt a part of it. You felt a part of Husker Du because they were from this place that you were.'

The fact that Minneapolis is twinned with state capital Saint Paul formed a playful rivalry from the mid-eighties. Bob Mould of Husker Du fondly reminisced on the musical competition admitting: 'With Huskers we definitely felt like we waving the Saint Paul flag. It was very different from the Minneapolis flag.' Alas, the Northside held the prominence of arguably Minnesota's most famous star over Saint Paul's head: Prince. The pioneer of the Minneapolis Sound himself shot to worldwide superstardom in the eighties, with the likes of 'Purple Rain' and 'When Doves Cry' exploding in 1984.

With such a rich music scene developing in just one city, it's easy to imagine just how vibrant the rest of the nation has become and will continue to be. A quick look at what's to come for Budweiser Made in America is solid proof of this. In LA we have Vegas chart-toppers Imagine Dragons and country crooner John Mayer headlining, with the likes of electro-house Californian Steve Aoki and hip hop's current hero Kendrick Lamar following close behind. The broad line-up also includes LA rockers Weezer, world famous rap collective Cypress Hill, British pop princess Rita Ora and local indie duo Capital Cities.

Over in Philadelphia the vibe is just as musically affluent. Headliners are Kanye West and Kings Of Leon with Dutch DJ Tiesto, Brooklyn based The National (who recently released a charming documentary, 'Mistaken For Strangers') and the happiest artist around right now Pharrell Williams as the main support. There's another diverse mix in Philly with artists also including rapper J. Cole, fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff's latest side project Bleachers, Canadian experimental electronic artist Grimes, Michigan's Mayer Hawthorne and 'Harlem Shake' genius Baauer.

There are further line-up announcements coming soon if you're not already excited enough. Ticket prices start from $150 and the the festival is set to hit LA Grand Park in Los Angeles and Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia on August 30th and 31st 2014.

It’s Alright To Leave The House! Kim Kardashian Was Only Joking With Pregnancy Style Advice 4284584 News

It seems Kim Kardashian was only joking when she told pregnant women to "never leave the house” during a recent interview with Elle magazine.

Kim KardashianKim caused controversy with her recent comments

The 33 year old mother of North West was asked for tips about hiding a baby bump, while attending an event for the Kardashian Kids collection on July 7th. But the reality star caused controversy with her answer when she said she “recommend hiding for a good year and having no pregnancy style.” Before adding, “If you can do it, hide. Never leave the house.”

The comments did seem a little strange coming from red carpet favourite Kim, who was frequently seen out and about while pregnant with daughter North West last year.

Speaking to her 22.1 million twitter followers on Saturday, Kim set the record straight saying, “I guess you can't be sarcastic when doing interviews! I was asked about tips on pregnancy style, I jokingly said pregnant woman should hide/stay in if they looked like I did lol.” Kim also added that she’d said they should turn to her sister Kourtney for advice instead, because she has the best pregnancy style.

But the reality queen has a idea that should keep her from ever being misunderstood in print again. Kim also tweeted, “I really should start video taping the interviews I do & post on my website so u can see the laughs & how it's really said.”

In other Kimye news, it seems that Kanye West was actually on the reality TV show bandwagon long before he joined ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’. TMZ have unearthed a failed 2010 pilot for a reality series starring Kanye's travel agent Brett Grolsch, in what could have be one of the most boring shows ever made.

In the pilot Kanye makes an appearance and talks about how much he hates airports while revealing he pretends to be on the phone in order to stop people approaching him. From the two minute clip it’s pretty clear why this one never got the green light. Still at least it prepared Kanye for the reality TV show life, he always does look so at ease on 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians.'

Kim Kardashian Discusses Motherhood Whilst Promoting Charitable Operation Shower Collaboration 4280924 News

Kim Kardashian has been giving some not-so-helpful advice to expectant mothers in numerous interviews published this week. The reality star was discussing her pregnancy whilst at the launch of the Kardashian Kids fashion line at Babies "R" Us in New Jersey.

The 33-year-old star has recommended that pregnant women should not leave the house during pregnancy, as being stylish is a nightmare. When asked, in a recent interview with Elle magazine, the reality star said "I recommend hiding for a good year and having no pregnancy style.  That's what I recommend. If you can do it, hide. Never leave the house."

Kim was also joined in the interview by her two sisters, Kourtney and Khloe, who attempted to rouse a more helpful response from their older sister. But Kim was adamant and said "That's really my recommendation. Wear a huge blanket." Kourtney, however, did offer some more practical advice and said it's just about "being comfortable". All three sisters agreed that Kourtney, who is expecting her third child with Scott Disick, has the "best pregnancy style" and claimed that she just wears clothes from the Kardashian line but "one size up".

In a different interview with Lucky, Kim also discussed how she feels "sexier" after having a child. She joked "I just want to be a MILF," explaining how "the struggle to get back into shape after giving birth is such a real one. It's so difficult to do, and afterwards, all you want to do is show off your body and feel sexy."

Kim and Kourtney also described how it's important to understand a child's sense of style and how soon a child's style can be altered by the development of their personality. Kourtney said "The clothes that I had for Mason before he was born ended up being totally different than what his style was once he developed a personality. Once he was even born, I was like 'Ugh, this is so not him.' So many things I didn't even end up using for him."

Whilst Kim, who gave birth to her daughter North with rapper Kanye West in June of last year, said "North doesn't really like pink. Like, she's very neutral. She doesn't like prints." Kim also added her daughter's style is "princess girly" as opposed to Kourtney's daughter Penelope's "hippy girly." But, as Kim continued North's style is less like traditional princess images, in creams and not pinks adding "Like a cream textured princess."

However, the three Kardashian sisters are not simply sat around discussing baby fashion as the trio are giving back with charitable organisation Operation Shower. The organisation provides baby showers for women whose husbands are away serving in the military and some of the sisters' new line, Kardashian Kids, is also being provided for the soon-to-be mums. Khloe described the organisation as "phenomenal" and explained how the charity had "given over 700,000 of these boxes to families, and it really just releases some of the pressure of not knowing even where to turn to know where to start."

Kanye West Unleashes 20-Minute Tirade On Unsuspecting Wireless Fans 4275515 News

Kanye West drew the ire of fans at his Wireless Festival gig this weekend, when he paused his set for twenty minutes to rant about discrimination in the fashion industry – specifically, discrimination against him.

Kanye West, Wireless Festival 2014
Kanye West had Big Things To Say, but fans had only paid to hear him rap.

"I'm not going to mention any names but… Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don't discriminate against me cos I'm a black man making music," West said, according to the Mirror.

Discrimination and racism might be pressing issues, but Wireless attendees weren’t too happy about paying for tickets to hear Kanye spout for half his set. Furious fans took to Twitter to vent their anger, with one writing: "If anyone is going to wireless tomorrow GET A REFUND! Kanye sings for 20 minutes then literally does a speech for 35 minutes!!"

Earlier in the day, the rapper got held up in his Eurostar train from Calais, France to London, so he may have already had some anger brewing.

The entire rant is yet to pop up online (though were sure some youtube user will get on that soon) but one of the better quotes was. "F**k saving face and what it's supposed to mean, it's about living my dream."

‘We Want Drake’, Fans Let Kanye West Know How They Feel After Rapper Is Booed For Second Consecutive Night 4274138 News

For the second night in a row, Kanye West has drawn the ire of Wireless Festival goers after he started his set late and embarked on another lengthly rant. The Yezzus rapper had been filling in for Drake who had to pull out of the headline slot due to illness.

Kanye WestKanye West probably should have let the music do the talking

Taking to the stage behind schedule at London’s Finsbury Park and wearing a bejewelled mask, Kanye stopped the music 15 minutes into his set and turned off the screens before delivering another long rant.

Telling the crowd he was actually “very shy in real life”, West said, “Sometimes it's hard because I'm too shy to carry off a lot. I'm arrogant and shy and a little bit lazy.” Adding, “I'm too shy to lie to anybody and I'm too arrogant to make myself lie to anyone because lies take too much work.”

The Daily Mail reports that the rapper talked for around 20minutes while impatient fans began booing with some sections of the crowd even starting a “we want Drake chant.” Festival goers soon took to twitter to express their annoyance at Kanye with one user writing, '#kanyewest has now been giving a sermon/speech for twenty minutes solid. Those poor Drake fans, this is NOT what they paid for. #wireless.’ While another said, '#kanyewest absolutely ruined my #wireless experience!!! Left early... You're a t*** #wewantdrake.’

The festival, which takes place in Birmingham and London was meant to be headlined by Drake, but the 'Hold On We're Going Home' rapper was forced to cancel his appearance due to illness. He later released a statement saying, 'To my beloved fans, it truly breaks my heart that I won't be able to perform as planned at Wireless and Roskilde this weekend. 'I got sick a few days ago and although I am on my way to bouncing back, my doctors have made it clear that I am not physically fit to fly or deliver the performance my fans expect and deserve from me.'

Tonight West will take the stage again, this time in Birmingham, for the festival's closing night.
