Bret Easton Ellis, who described talking to Kanye West as "mind blowing," will pen a screenplay for the rapper which will be inspired by his latest studio album 'Yeezus'.
Kanye West, who claims to be a creative genius, has hired the help of a revered author for a new project.
Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote 'American Psycho', will collaborate with the 36 year-old rapper by writing a movie inspired by his latest studio album 'Yeezus'.
This partnership is intriguing to say the least as both artists are known for taking risks, and have stirred their own fair share of controversy in the past.
As expected no further information has been released, but Ellis, who will pen the movie's screenplay, admitted in a recent interview that it took a while for him to agree to the project.
While speaking with Vice.com Bret explained, "He came and asked me to write the film. I didn't want to at first. Then I listened to 'Yeezus'."
"It was early summer last year and I was driving in my car. He'd given me an advance copy and I thought, regardless of whether I'm right for this project, I want to work with whoever made this."
He continued, "So f-k it, I said yes. And that's how it happened. That was seven or eight months ago. We'll see what happens."
The 49 year-old novelist also admitted to being very fond of the 'Black Skinhead' rapper and called his conversations with Kanye as "mind-blowing."
"I really like him as a person," he said. "I know he comes off in this performance art way in the press, but if you're just alone with him in a room talking for three hours, it's kind of mind-blowing."
This will not be the pair's first time collaborating, they worked together on a spoof video of the 2000 film 'American Psycho,' based on Bret's novel of the same name.
