Ever since news broke music's most loved up couple have decided to go their separate ways, many fans have waited for a lengthy explanation as to why, but for the time being Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks are keeping very private about the ending of their three year romance.

On Friday (Sept 26th), the 'Tattoo' singer addressed her split from Derulo in a few shorts words via Twitter to let her 4.13 million followers know that she is coping well, and will cherish the memories of her time with the 25 year-old singer.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened," Sparks simply tweeted.

Derulo was also seemed to be in good spirits when he spoke of the separation on Thursday (Sept 25th). During an interview with KDWB in Minneapolis he said, "Yeah, everything is cool, man," when asked if they would still remain friends. "It's not a bad situation. You know, it's not one of those kinda things."

Sparks, 24 and the 'Watcha Say' singer were first romantically linked in September 2011, but Derulo only confirmed their relationship four months later in January 2012.

At one point during the time they were together, speculation of Derulo and Sparks becoming engaged grew when the 'Talk Dirty' singer proposed to his girlfriend in the music video for 'Marry Me,' which was based on their real-life relationship.

Sparks addressed the split on Twitter 

"It is about Jordin, actually," the singer told E! News in 2013. "And it's talking about how amazing it will be when I get down on one knee and it will be the greatest moment of my life. You can't fake anything because true love is true love, and that's the basis of our relationship."

E!News first reported that the pair still care for each other very much and their split was mutually decided, and they plan to stay good friends
