We all knew Disney’s The Lone Ranger was a disaster both critically and financially, the extent of which is now known thanks to Disney’s Third Quarter Results, which shows that the summer blockbuster will lose them between $160m-$190m.

The film managed to rake in around $175m from the global market, and considering the budget was $210m, you’d be forgiven for thinking some financial intern at Disney had got their sums totally wrong. But an astronomical marketing outlay has meant that this is one flop the studio will want to forget about.

The poor financial performance and critical response doesn’t really affect Depp, though. In fact, we’ve been in the lab doing some tests and come up with this calculation: (doesn’t watch his own films + gets paid anyway) x net worth = Johnny Depp couldn’t care less about The Lone Ranger. He might even quit acting anyway.

What’s that? Oh yeah, he doesn’t watch his own stuff. It’s better that way.

"I made a choice a long time ago, that I was better off not watching my films, which is a drag because you miss out on a lot of your friends' incredible work,” he told The Independent. “But I feel like it would just harm me. I would rather stay as ignorant as possible about the result of anything because once you're done playing that character, it's really not your business anymore.”
