Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye will appear in Captain America 3, with the actor confirming the recent speculation during an interview with MTV News. The idea of the Avengers character getting his own solo movie has been floating around Marvel studios for a while now, though it appears he will first join Chris Evans in the third instalment of the blockbuster franchise.

Jeremy RennerJeremy Renner could be in 'Captain America 3'

"I'm happy to be the ensemble," said Renner when asked about the possibility of a solo movie, "I'm not scratching or clawing to do a solo movie by any means." This could partly be down to the fact that Renner is a busy, busy man. As well as his Marvel duties, the actor is also working on the next Mission: Impossible movie with Tom Cruise, as well as a new Bourne film.

However, Renner, perhaps inadvertently, revealed that he'll be making an appearance in Captain America 3, saying, ".a utility guy that can bounce around into other people's universes a little bit, especially like Cap 3."

The guys behind the third movie are certainly cranking up the anticipation. Co-director Anthony Russo recently said that fans will "freak out" when they hear about who will be in the movie.

"We wanted to push the character forward into the modern age with The Winter Soldier, and we want to keep pushing the character forward. We always want to be true to who Captain America is, but we want to surprise people about where he can go and what he's capable of. That's about as specific as I can get about where we might take him," he told Movies.com.

Captain America 3 is set for release in May 2016. So powerful is the franchise that Warner Bros' moved its Batman v Superman movie Dawn of Justice to avoid a battle with the Marvel heavyweight. Captain America: The First Avenger took $370 million at the box-office while the sequel, The Winter Soldier, took over $700 million.
