Jennifer Lawrence sits down with Barbara Walters and attacks Hollywood as well as the media for sending women the wrong message about their body-image, stating: "It should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV."
Jennifer Lawrence recently sat down with Barbara Walters' and took vengeance on Hollywood criticising women's weight.
The 23 year-old was interviewed on the annual TV special as part of ABC's Barbara Walters' list of 'The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013'
"Why is humiliating people funny?" the 'Silver Linings Playbook' actress asked the seasoned journalist. "And I get it, I do it too. We all do it."
Lawrence, who rose to fame after been cast as young heroine 'Katniss' in the dystopia sci-fi epic film franchise 'The Hunger Games', has attacked Hollywood before after revealing she was branded overweight when first trying to break into show business.
"I think when it comes to media, the media needs to take responsibility for the effect it has on our younger generation on these girls that are watching these television shows and picking up how to talk and how to be cool," she abruptly said.
"So all of the sudden being funny is making fun of the girl that's wearing an ugly dress. And the word fat! I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV. I mean, if we're regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words because of the effect it has on our younger generation, why aren't we regulating things like calling people fat?"
In the December 2013 issue of InStyle magazine, J-Law admitted that when it comes to the gym and working out, "Nothing can motivate me."
"During Hunger Games, when I was eating ungodly amounts, I used to tell myself, 'Stop eating, people are going to see this," she said. "This movie is going to be around forever.' But nope! I was like, I still want candy and I still want a hot dog!"
Lawrence's brave stance on women's body-image issues could have been a factor in Walters choosing her as one of the main newsmakers of 2013, as well as her flourishing acting career, of course.
The No.1 most fascinating person will be revealed during the ABC News special on Wednesday (Dec 18th).
