Jacqueline Bisset Wins Golden Globe With Sweary And Rambling Acceptance Speech [Video]

Jacqueline Bisset may not be one of the hugest Hollywood names to have accepted a Golden Globe at last night's ceremony but the British actress has provided much to talk about with her rather unorthodox acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Show, Miniseries or TV Movie for her performance in the BBC drama, Dancing on the Edge.

Jacqueline Bisset's Golden Globes Acceptance Speech Has Brought Shock & Laughter.

Against rivals Janet McTeer ('White Queen'), Hayden Panettiere ('Nashville'), Monica Potter ('Parenthood') and Sofia Vergara ('Modern Family'), Bisset had probably assumed she'd be overshadowed and indeed as her name was read out by Mila Kunis the 69 year-old actress' surprise was evident in her facial expression.

In a bid for one of the most emotional moments from the whole awards, a stunned and tearful Bisset made her way to the stage, hugging friends as she did so. The actress had opted for a classic Old Hollywood looks with a tumbling black organza gown embellished with shimmering golden foliage. She reached the stage and as she stood silent for a few seconds, it was clear that she hadn't prepared any semblance of an acceptance speech.

What followed was a rather hilarious and often cringe-worthy example of ad-libbing in which Jacqueline thanked those involved in the show but seemed to forget that the awards were being broadcast on television. As the only individual British winner in the whole awards ceremony, there was a lot of pressure on the actress which was evidenced by a rambling and confusing speech.

Remembering her previous Golden Globes nominations, Bisset began pretty well after her shaky and unconfident start: "Thank you very much Hollywood Foreign Press, I am absolutely shaking, I can't believe this. You have nominated me about five times, anyway," she said, overcome with shock. The Casino Royale actress then continued, "OK... Scottish background to the front. I always wanted to do something for the BBC, and we did this and this was great."

"Chiwetel [Ejiofor], can I tell you? Can I see Chiwetel?" she called, adding "I need him for inspiration. Where is he? Okay... I'm sorry. I'm going to get this together. I want to thank the people who have given me joy, and there have been many. And the people who have given me s**t, I say it like my mother what did she say? She used to say, 'Go to hell, and don't come back.'"

The British Actress Clearly Hadn't Expected To Win A Golden Globe.

Even when the Golden Globes, stage-exit-hint music began playing, Bisset remained on the stage to continue her lengthy speech. Amidst the awkward waves of laughter from the audience present in the room, there were plenty of tweets from viewers questioning the sobriety of the star.

Backstage, Bisset seemed to be more collected, saying "My remarks, I can't really remember what I said, actually. And I forgot to mention my director, Steven Poliakoff, who I admire enormously. We had a very good cast. Steven was a joy, brilliant man, director," via Fox News.
