A New Direction For Louis Tomlinson, Is The Singer About To Buy Doncaster Rovers Football Club?
In this week’s other Louis Tomlinson news…
It has certainly been a busy week for One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. As the storm over ‘that’ leaked video continues, it appears the singer could be on the brink of a new venture, becoming co-chairman of Doncaster Rovers football club.
Is Louis about to buy Doncaster Rovers?
Tomlinson, a life long Rovers, fan is said to be teaming up with former owner John Ryan to buy the League One side. If successful, the duo will reportedly act as the club’s co-chairmen. Despite previously selling the club to the Keepmoat group to form a trust, Ryan still owns quarter of the share of the team, who were relegated at the beginning of the month.
The Sun reports that the deal is at an “advanced stage” with the pair wanting it to go through by July in time for the start of the new season. However the paper also writes that Tomlinson is worried over the recent leaked Peru video, which he fears could damage the deal. “The timing of the Peru video has really upset him because he doesn’t want anything to jeopardise the deal,” a source told The Sun, while describing the venture as “very commercially sensitive and worth a seven-figure sum."
The Doncaster born popstar has always been vocal about his affinity with the club. He’s long been a season-ticket holder and even made a professional appearance for their reserves team in February, after signing to the club last summer.

If the deal is successful, Tomlinson won't be the first pop star to chair a football club. Elton John famously became the chairman of his favourite team, Watford F.C. in 1976 before stepping down in 2002.
