The cast of The Inbetweeners will be headed to Australia to film the next feature-length chapter in the crude and hilarious exploits of the four friends, Neil, Simon, Jay and Will. The 2011 movie was so well received that the comedy's creators have set their sights on another movie, this time set Down Under, according to Iain Morris and Damon Beesley.

Producers have confirmed that The Inbetweeners Movie 2 will be shot in Australia this month before the team heads back to the UK in January with a Summer 2014 release date pencilled in, according to distributor EFD, via Digital Spy. There's little confirmed information about the new film's plotline at the moment but the show's creators have revealed where the sequel will be set.

Morris and Beesley, who both wrote the script and will be directing the comedy film, said in a statement: "We can't say too much as we don't want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas.

"Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon, providing they're let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support, we're hoping to deliver a film that you'll enjoy even more than the last one."

The highly awarded sitcom began life on the television screen where it aired for three seasons until the friends finished college and headed off into adulthood. A US version of The Inbetweeners TV series was shown last year but bombed with critics and ended after just one series.
