Idina Menzel And John Travolta Are Still "Buddies" Despite Oscar Faux Pas
The 42 year-old singer/actress says she has "only benefited from it," when discussing being called 'Adele Dazeem' by Travolta at this year's Academy-Awards.
It turns out Idina Menzel has let it go.
The 42 year-old has broken her silence since John Travolta's now infamous blunder at the Academy-Awards.
While gracing the cover of the latest Billboard issue, Menzel talks about being called 'Adele Dazeem.'
"He was really gracious and sent this gorgeous email, and we're buddies and it's all cool," he told the mag, noting that Travolta also sent her flowers.
Although all is forgiven, the star of the upcoming Broadway play 'If/Then' did admit the 60 year-old actor incorrectly pronouncing her name did cause a loss in focus.
"That threw me for a minute, but then I just got back on track and reminded myself of where I was," she recalled.
Menzel also feels the incident wasn't all that bad, and even had a positive outcome for her. "Please. I mean, I've only benefited from it," she added.
Travolta's mishap caused a Twitter frenzy of viewers and celebrities alike, which led to the creation of an online viral sensation where you can get your name 'Travoltified.'
A few days after the award ceremony the 'Grease' actor released a statement addressing his error.
"I've been beating myself up all day," Travolta wrote. "Then I thought ... what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, Let it go, let it go! Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!"
Travolta was supposed to introduce Menzel to sing the Oscar-winning song 'Let It Go' from Disney's animated film 'Frozen.'
But when addressing the attendees and the millions of viewers around the globe, he said, "Here to perform the Oscar-nominated and gorgeously empowering song 'Let It Go' from the Oscar-winning animated movie Frozen, please welcome the wickedly talented, the one and only, Adela Dazeen."
