'I Can't Sing!' Villain Trevor Modo Based on James Arthur?

A hunchback villain character named Trevor Modo in Harry Hill's new X-Factor musical I Can't Sing! is apparently based on former champion James Arthur. In the show, Trevor auditions for the hit show to save himself from a life of poverty, but is sent packing by Nigel Harmon's Simon Cowell character.

James ArthurJames Arthur Has Reacted Angrily to the Claims

Seeking revenge, Trevor breaks into an impressive rap number about the injustice of the music industry.

According to sources speaking with the Daily Star, the script was altered late on to have Trevor channel James Arthur.

The insider admitted: "The character Trevor Modo is loosely based on James Arthur.

"James has made a lot of enemies within his own label by publicly criticising how they are handling his career.

"Like Trevor, James has also complained about the X Factor stifling his artistic creativity."

Arthur himself tweeted the link to the Star's story and directly addressed Cowell, saying: "@SimonCowell I should "shut up and put out records" or else this?"

He added: "Cue more media bullying."

Earlier this month, Cowell commented on Arthur's various Twitter outbursts, saying, "I think James, unfortunately, has had so many issues with what he has done publicly - which is a real issue with me.

"Somebody should have told him to shut up and just put the records out."

James Arthur recently confirmed 'Get Down' as his new single. He released his self-titled debut album in November 2013 - it debuted at No.2 on the UK Albums Chart.
