It was a lovely moment. The BBC's deputy political editor James Landale was out and about in London for the six o'clock news, questioning the inhabitants of tranquil Richmond about Heathrow Airport's expansion.

While two regular citizens filmed disagreed with the expansion, one man was more than happy for the flight path to tear right above the London suburb - Henry Winkler, aka The Fonz!

"Richmond is a lovely place", he told Landale, "I watch the planes go every day. I hear nothing."

Winker is currently playing Captain Hook in the Richmond pantomime.

Landale, who treated the voxpop like any other interview, tweeted, "In case you were just watching BBC News, that was indeed the Fonz who gave me his views on Heathrow airport..."

He later said, "yes, I was aware it was the Fonz. And yes, he was as cool as I was starstruck."

After getting a wave of messages on Twitter, Landale linked followers to his full interview with Winkler, saying, "For those who have asked, here is my full exchange with the Fonz. He is cool. I am a gabbling, starstruck idiot."

Winkler is, of course, best known for his role as the leather-glad mechanic Fonzie on the 1970s sitcom Happy Days. He currently stars as Sy Mittleman on Children's Hospital.
