Diagon Alley Is Open For Business In Orlando's Wizarding World - Only For The "Harry Potter" Cast So Far

One unexpected benefit from starring in the Harry Potter films is apparently the chance to test out the new additions at Orlando’s Wizarding World before anyone else. Several HP stars, including Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, Matthew Lewis and Helena Bonham Carter visited the park this week and had a walk around the brand new Diagon Ally extension and take another dip in the wizarding world they spent over a decade working on.

The stars of Harry Potter get a number of perks, including early entrance to the new Diagon Ally.

Actor Tom Felton, who plays Harry's school nemesis Draco Malfoy, said Universal Studios' Diagon Alley attraction is better than the movie set.

"It's far more immersive," he said, according to Reuters.

"There's no scaffolding, no green screen, no electricians standing around."

The Diagon Ally extension, mimicking the magical shopping district from J. K. Rowling’s iconic series of children’s books, will open to the general public on July 1. The original Wizarding World opened back in 2010 and is modeled after the village of Hogsmeade  - a magical place near Hogwarts and a crucial setting in the books and films.

Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the films, thinks the Wizarding World theme park is even more emersive than the actual film set.

Actor Warwick Davis, who plays Professor Filius Flitwick, said the new ride "surpassed anything I've ever seen before."

To visit both sections of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, guests will have to buy a more expensive two-park pass, which costs $136 plus tax, because Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley were built in separate Universal parks.
