Harry Potter Spinoff Movie Could Be On It's Way, Says Warner Bros. Chiefs

Did someone say Harry Potter spin-off? Surely that's too good to be true! Well apparently not, because the word on the street is that Warner Bros. are working alongside J.K. Rowling in order to bring a host of other adventures set within the same world as Harry, Ron and Hermione.

Rowling is currently writing her first screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Wehre to Find Them

As already revealed last month, Rowling is working on her first screenplay to bring her charity-written book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to life. Now it has emerged that her other Comic Relief 2001 title, Quidditch Through the Ages, could very well be adapted for the screen too. Warner Bros. have acquired the rights to the book and now have the potential to turn it into another live-action feast for the eyes, with reports stating that the film giants have also acquired the rights to the many Quiddich teams and notable player names mentioned in the book.

Emma Watson Rupert Grint
Original Potter stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are unlikely to feature in any of the new films

The company already own the rights to the names Newt Scamander, the fictious author of the Fantastic Beasts... book who will serve as the main protagonist for the new Potter film, and it already owns the rights for Rowling's 2007 book-within-a-book Tales Of Beedle The Bard. Recent reports now state that the company have now purchased the rights for the book's fictious author and Quidditch expert Kennilworthy Whisp, as well as the Quidditch teams Wimbourne Wasps, Chudley Cannons and Kenmare Kestrels. The film could therefore take a similar direction to the Fantastic Beasts... adaption and follow Kennilworthy Whisp's adventures.

Earlier this year, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara revealed that the company would "build a film franchise" off the back of Fantastic Beasts. This latest acquisition could be part of this franchise or could very well spawn it's own, Quidditch-based franchise.

No word on whether Rowling will work on any further screenplays
