Glastonbury speculation time! Two bits of news have emerged in the last 24 hours that have changed the minds of opinion-formers as to who will be headlining the 2015 edition of the wildly popular British festival.

Dave Grohl
Foo Fighters' odds of headlining Glastonbury have been slashed after Dave Grohl (above) expressed interest

First of all, Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood has categorically denied that his band will be headlining the festival. Speaking on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 programme, he said "One of the things that I'd like to clear up is that we're not playing Glastonbury. A lot of folks think that we are, so loud and clear: We love Glastonbury and all the surrounding history of such a lovely festival but we're not playing it." This squelches rumours that have been doing the rounds since May after Christine McVie said “if Michael Eavis provides the wellies I’ll be there”.

On the other hand, odds on the American rock titans Foo Fighters being unveiled as one of three headliners have tumbled after their lead singer Dave Grohl told the NME that he would be interested in doing it. "I mean, it's an iconic festival," the frontman stated when asked about Glastonbury. "I just tell everyone if they need a band, we're pretty good. They should give us a call. See what happens." The Foos haven’t played the festival since way back in 1998.

Other bookies’ tips for the headline slots are AC/DC, Muse, Elton John and Taylor Swift. There’s even some predicting The Stone Roses or, as a real outside shot, a reformation of Pink Floyd. Don’t hold your breath with that one, people.

The headliners at this year’s festival were Canadian group Arcade Fire, legends Metallica and British indie stars Kasabian. Tickets for next year’s Glastonbury went on sale in October and sold out in just 25 minutes. Still hope for the re-sale in April, though…
